Ries brings office, business, sales expertise to Ellsworth chamber post

Helping others is a theme carrying through most of what Sarah Ries has done with her life.

From tutoring to being a nanny to managing an office or self-employment, Ries has strived to serve individuals as well as groups. Her latest calling is executive director for the Ellsworth Chamber of Commerce.

"I'll help strengthen the relationship between the chamber and local businesses," she said on her first official day on-the-job Thursday, understanding the organization is moving in a different direction.

The successor to Laurel Cox in a renamed role was mindful the chamber's community service will be kept in place, but its main emphasis will now be business.

Bill Kirk was editor of the Pierce County Herald in Ellsworth, from 1988 to February, 2015 and is now on staff as a reporter. He holds a bachelors degree in journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. He previously worked in the media distribution department at the University of Minnesota's Minneapolis campus and is past editor of The Tri-County News in Osseo, Wisconsin.
