Salute to Veterans event May 29 at RW Airport

BAY CITY - The Eagle Valley Squadron will sponsor a "Salute to Veterans" event 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, May 29, at the Red Wing Regional Airport in Bay City.

Attractions include a car show, military vehicles, military aircraft, experimental and home-built planes, radio-control planes, Civil Air Patrol aerospace education, Military speakers, an Eagle from the National Eagle Center in Wabasha, Minn., and free airplane rides for children ages 8-17.

The rides are sponsored by EAA-Young Eagles Rally. Parental permission is required. Weather permitting, the rides will start at 9 a.m. and last no later than 4 p.m. For more information, visit

Raffle prizes include a framed print by artist Terry Redlin, a chance to ride in a T6 WWII airplane, and a bed and breakfast package at the St. James Hotel in Red Wing.

Food and refreshments will be available from the American Cancer Society/ Mississippi Shuffle of Red Wing food booth, as well as other vendors.

The squadron's mission is preserving and teaching the history of military aircraft, aviation and artifacts of the Vietnam War, Korean and Gulf wars and sharing the aviation-related memories of individuals who participated in or witnessed these conflicts.
