"Purple Martins: Bringing them back" Feb. 5
The St. Croix Valley Bird Club is sponsoring a presentation by Kelly Applegate, wildlife biology for the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe Indians, and director of the Minnesota Purple Martin Working Group from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, at the River Falls Public Library.
He will discuss the current efforts being made to bring purple martins back to this area.
His work focuses heavily on conservation of habitats and species through partnership building, education, and active restoration of ecosystems. Special projects at this time include purple martins, common terns, and chimney swifts.
As always the meetings are free and open to the public. If interested in becoming a member, dues are $10 yearly and forms will be available.
