Acker hopes to continue to develop Midway property
With the new McDonald's in Ellsworth now open for business, the owner of the property it rests on hopes it isn't the only business there.
Dan and Phyllis Acker of Stanley bought the property which once was the base for a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Reserve Base in the midway section of Ellsworth and developed it for the McDonald's to get built this summer.
Dan Acker hopes for continued development of the property. He wants to put retail businesses right where the old garage of the base current stands. He's also put a for sale sign for a parcel of land on the other side of the McDonald's
"Right now we just don't have tenants or the interest to justify putting money into building anything," Acker said. "But we hope that interest picks up when people see the traffic and business the McDonald's draws and wants to be next to it."
At last Monday's Ellsworth village board meeting the board unanimously approved payment of TID No. 10 district finanicng reimbusement to the Ackers as part of the developer's agreement.
