Alf brings experience to hair salon in Spring Valley

SPRING VALLEY--It's kind of a fluke that Heidi Alf ended up with her own hair salon in Spring Valley.

When one of her girl friends couldn't work a scheduled shift at the salon Alf now owns, she filled in, she said Thursday. Soon, she was coming down regularly from her home in Baldwin.

"I had never been in this town before," she said.

Not long afterward, former owner Cindy Kongshaug decided to sell the business, previously known as Cindy's Cutting Edge, Alf said. Once the present owner pressed Kongshaug about the sale, she became convinced her intentions were serious, so took advantage of the opportunity.

Now, Alf is present at the outlet she's renamed Shear Results for hair stylist duty during the evening and weekend shifts, following her weekday responsibilities at a day care she operates back home, she said.
