Goodhue head coach Josh Wieme: “She has really dominated Class 1A and 2A basketball in southeastern Minnesota for the past three years. No team, especially this year, has been able to slow her down or prevent her from taking over games. … She works harder on the floor than anyone around her, and has put in the work on her own as well. Mikayla is the most creative player that I have ever seen, and her ability to score really is unmatched. She is a once-in-a-generation player that has been an absolute pleasure to coach and be associated with.”

Kelsey Betthauser, jr., Ellsworth

18.9 ppg, 14.8 rpg, first team All-Middle Border Conference

Ellsworth head coach John Kleppe: “She’s an incredible worker and leader. Very deserving of the credit she gets.”

Shelby Hinsch, jr., Goodhue

10.4 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 53 steals, 20 blocks, HVL All-Conference, Class 1A All-Tournament team

Goodhue head coach Josh Wieme: “Shelby’s growth as a player had a giant impact on our team’s success this year. She became a steady double-digit scorer and has a great inside-outside balance to her game. … Even when she struggled scoring, Shelby was a defensive presence that protected the basket.”

McKenzie Muelken, jr., Red Wing

18.5 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 2.0 spg. Missota All-Conference, Class 3A All-State honorable mention

Red Wing head coach Dave Muelken: “McKenzie went from 10 points per game as a sophomore to 18.5 as a junior facing many double teams. She really picked up the scoring void left by Tesha (Buck) and kept us very competitive in what could have been the best conference in the state.”

Kalli Paukert, sr., Zumbrota-Mazeppa

HVL All-Conference 8.0 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 3.3 apg, 1.8 spg

Z-M head coach Scott Paukert: “Kalli’s impact on our team went far beyond her stats. Simply put, we’ve needed her presence on the floor the past two seasons. Although she wasn’t a flashy athlete of player, in my 17 years as a head coach, I’ve had few point guards who have played such a pivotal role in the success of our team as Kalli.”

Second team

Breanna Gates, jr., Lake City

14.0 ppg, 5.7 rpg, HVL All-Conference, Team MVP

Madi Green, so., Lake City

12.3 ppg, 8.0 rpg

Carley Henning, sr., Zumbrota-Mazeppa

11.3 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 2.0 spg, HVL All-Conference

Z-M head coach Scott Paukert: “Carley is an excellent three-sport athlete who was capable of a double-double on any given night this season. With her athleticism, she was capable of playing both inside and outside offensively and defensively.”

Kara Norvet, sr., Red Wing

7.5 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 3.5 apg, Missota All-Conference honorable mention

Red Wing head coach Dave Muelken: “Kara was a team leader both on and off the court, and she was able to score and create for others. Kara will be going on to play at Lake Forest College in Illinois.”

Meredith Watson, sr., Goodhue

5.5 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 74 steals

Goodhue head coach Josh Wieme: “Meredith is a player who does all the dirty work for a team and does not care about stats or recognition. She is a team-first player who only wants to help everyone else succeed. Her numbers will not jump out at you but her impact on the defensive end against much bigger players cannot be measured.”

Honorable mention

Hailey Kuhl, sr., Red Wing (3.5 ppg, 5.0 rpg); McKayla Muelken, fr., Red Wing (5.5 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 2 apg); Kali Ryan, sr., Goodhue (HVL All-Conference, 5.9 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 1.9 apg); Courtney Woodcock, sr., Cannon Falls (8.6 ppg, 7.1 rpg, 1.9 spg, 1.3 bpg).
