Alma-Pepin season comes to an end with loss in sectionals

OSSEO - Independence got off to a fast start Thursday in the WIAA Division 4 sectional semifinal game at Osseo-Fairchild and cruised to victory.

The Eagles trailed 18-8 after one quarter and 40-19 at the half.

Independence, which is ranked No. 6 in the state, improved to 24-1 and will play Weston in Saturday's sectional final in La Crosse.

A-P failed to handle Independence's match-up zone press which caused many turnovers, especially in the first half. It didn't help that the Eagles made 19 of 35 free throws while Independence made 12 of 15 foul shots.

Sophomore Tasha Heit and junior Ellie Ludwigson each score 10 points to lead the Eagles, who finish the season at 17-7
