Outgoing President Cindy Boggess of M&I Bank talked about the chamber's highlights and events in 2008, including the annual dinner, the clean-up on Hwy. 10, the Memorial Day Chicken Feed, golf tournament and hometown holidays. The chamber reached a high of 125 members this past year.

"Thank you for your chamber membership," Boggess said. "The stronger our membership is, the stronger is our business community."

Chamber awards were presented in six categories for 2008:

--The Arbor Inn was named Business of the Year. In their first year, owners John and Deb Sherman were "very pro-chamber," said Chamber Coordinator Trisha Huber. "Since coming to town, they have gone out of their way to do business with members, so that they can refer guests to these businesses." John is also on the chamber board and the pair took part in the hometown holidays and the poker stroll.

--Julie Moe of WESTconsin Credit Union was named Member of the Year. A chamber board member in 2008, Moe will serve as its president in 2009. "Was involved with every event that the chamber worked on last year," said Huber. "Very willing to help out in any way."

--Pauline Barnes from Croix Insurance was named Citizen of the Year. "She is very well-liked and respected in the community," said Huber. Among her many roles was being vice-president of the Kiwanis, running the Prescott Daze fishing contest, and is active with the senior lock-in party.
