Art Winger, 72

Arthur T. Winger, age 72, of Spring Valley, Wis., died Tuesday, August 11, 2009, at his home in Martell Township.

Art was born Jan. 15, 1937, on the home farm in Martell, the son of Harry and Olga (Rice) Winger.  He was baptized and confirmed and a lifelong member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Beldenville, Wis.

Art attended Ellsworth schools, graduating with the class of 1955.  After high school, he went to work for the Ellsworth Co-Op Creamery.  He worked there for over 40 years.  During this time, Art also worked on the family farm with his father for many years, eventually taking over the farm.  He loved attending farm shows, rodeos, and tractor pulls.  Anyone who knew Art knew how much he loved to visit.  He would strike up a conversation with anyone willing to talk, family and friends, neighbors, and the fisherman who visited the Rush River.  He loved the farm, his John Deere tractors, and his family of kitties.

Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers, Harold and Ed.

Survivors include his wife Helga of Spring Valley; two sisters, Beverly (Howard) Kiefer of Spring Valley, Jeanette (Warren) Schade of Beldenville; one sister-in-law Betty Winger of Spring Valley; many nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Visitation was on Friday from 5-8 p.m. at Keehr Funeral Home, Spring Valley.  Funeral services were Saturday, August 15, 2009, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Beldenville, with Rev. John Sutherland officiating.  Music was provided by organist Heather Johnson with congregational singing.  Burial was in the Church Cemetery.

Honorary bearers were Clyde Jacobson, Charles Christopherson, Dean Hines, and Brian Kersten.  Pallbearers were Scott Kiefer, Wayne Kiefer, Bob Winger, Randy Winger, Dennis Kiefer, Mark Kiefer, and Kevin Winger.

Keehr Funeral Home, Spring Valley, handled arrangements.
