Baader new stylist at Calypso Salon

For those who know Lyndsey Baader, it’s not a surprise to see her choose the career she did.

“I was cutting my family’s hair before I went to (cosmetology) school,” she said.

Baader was reminiscing last week at Calypso Salon in Ellsworth, where she started as a stylist in the last month.

“I love the people interaction and making people feel good about themselves,” she said.

Baader, a 2008 Ellsworth High School graduate, got her degree from Allure School of Cosmetology in Red Wing. She started out at Woodbury (Minn.) Studio 100 for 2 ½ years and then moved to Hastings (Minn.) In-Style salon, where she worked a year before it closed.

She took a break before walking into Calypso for the first time.

“When I met (Calypso owner) Leah (Stensrud), I had a good feeling about her,” Baader said. “I thought it was a great place and I loved the atmosphere.”

An agreement was soon reached for Baader to join Stensrud and Jenni Hines on staff.

“I don’t think there is anything hard about this job,” Baader said. “The easy part is talking with people and making their days better.”

Baader lives in Maiden Rock with husband Cody. Calypso Salon is open Tuesdays-Fridays and Saturdays by appointment. It is located next to Subway in Ellsworth.
