University of Wisconsin goaltender Shane Connelly is named the Most Valuable Player in the Winter Carnival, as the Wisconsin men's hockey team whips Michigan Tech 4-1.
Connelly stopped 27 shots as his Badger team improved to 13-11-6 overall.
Wisconsin is 9-9-4 in the WCHA and is in fourth place all by itself.
The Badgers never trailed Tech. Michael Davies put the visitors on the scoreboard first with a goal at 5:46 of the opening period.
Defenseman Cody Goloubef gave Connelly all the scoring support he would need at 16-23 of the same period.
Tech did cut the lead to 2-1, but goals by Craig Johnson and Sean Dolan put the game out of reach.
Wisconsin wraps up its home season next weekend when Minnesota State comes to Madison for a pair of games.
