A band trip, the 2013-14 calendar and dates related to the facilities plan were approved by the Ellsworth School Board Monday.
The trip will be to San Antonio, Tex., during spring break of the 2013-14 school year. EHS Band Director John Kleppe said approximately 50 students and five chaperones are expected to participate. Arrangements are being made by the same company the school has used for the last three trips. Fundraising efforts have already begun; the cost will be less than the Orlando, Fla., trip.
A proposed agenda shows there will be one performance at a public venue, one master class at a recognized university, a visit to the Alamo Museum, the Spanish Governor's Palace, the River Walk, a Spanish Missions Tour, a River Boat Cruise, visits to Six Flags--Dallas, Sea World--Dallas and the San Antonio Symphony. Travel will be by Motorcoach.
The trip will provide the students a chance to perform and learn in one of the most culturally and historically rich areas of the country, according to information shared with the board. Students will deliver at least two performances and one of those will be for a renowned conductor who will then work with the students.
