Barn fire brings out three departments Monday evening
A Monday evening fire claimed a barn, said to be empty of livestock, on property owned by Thomas and Holly Kaeder, N4883, CTH OO, a mile south of Hwy. 10, rural Hager City.
Ellsworth firefighters were alerted around 7:15 p.m. after fire was reported near a silo that was spreading to the adjacent barn. By the time a Pierce County sheriff's deputy arrived at the scene, flames were enveloping the barn itself.
The officer reported that most of the equipment stored in the barn had been removed by the landowner.
Ellsworth firefighters soon asked for a tanker from the Prescott Fire Department, followed by a similar request of River Falls around 7:50 p.m.
A front-end loader was also requested from neighbor Randy Huppert, to help remove debris from along side of barn.
