Beer, alcohol sales during fair now official

Tuesday marked another short meeting for the Pierce County Board of Supervisors, as members were done again in less than 20 minutes.

Though, in their brief time, a lot of things were finalized. Such as:

--Approval to sell and prohibit the carry-in of beer and alcohol on the fairgrounds during the Pierce County Fair. This move was done as a way to remove the fair from the county levy. A social garden picked up momentum as a way to increase revenue when surveys taken during last year's fair indicated fairgoers would continue to attend the fair if there was one. Organizers believe it will increase fair and grandstand attendance. Fair Coordinator Ann Webb said no detailed planning has been done yet on the social garden location and added it will be addressed at upcoming fair committee meetings.
