BAY CITY -- A benefit will be held for Alyxis Lundquist this Saturday starting at noon at Mike's Bay Town in Bay City.

Alyxis, now six-years-old, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) last May, which means she has cancer in her bone marrow, spinal fluid and lymph nodes.

The outpouring of support Alyxis has received since the diagnosis from anyone and everyone hasn't gone unnoticed.

"The schools (Alyxis attends Sunnyside Elementary in Ellsworth), the communities and the hospital (Children's Hospital in St. Paul) have been very supportive," her father Jason said. "A lot of people in town are making sure she's okay and wondering if there's anything they could do.

"People we don't even know have come up and offered to help."

Jason and Alyxis' mother Shannon are the parents of two other kids, Cody, 13, and Caitlyn, four.

"Big brother's been beneficial," Shannon said. "Caitlyn is Alyxis' little gopher. She caters to her every need and loves helping out."

A variety of events have been scheduled for Saturday. A raffle, door prizes and silent auction are planned. According to one of Alyxis' grandmothers, Bev, who owns the Pottery Place Art Company in Red Wing, the first round of raffle tickets sold out and now the only other way to buy tickets is at the door. (She added people need not be present to win for the raffle.)

Among some of the items people will see are an overnight trip to Treasure Island Casino in Red Wing, Willows on the Lake in Lake City, Minn., two overnight stays at St. Croix Casino in Turtle Lake, a gun, jackets, a large rug valued at $750, gift certificates, an autographed Harley-Davidson flag signed by founder Willard G. Davidson, a football signed by all the members of the 2006 Green Bay Packers, an autographed Milwaukee Brewer baseball, autographed pictures from the Minnesota Vikings, artwork galore, Victorian tea sets and a hand-made Cribbage board. Bev further added the silent auction will likely close around 9 p.m. and door prizes will be given away all day.

Food will also be available throughout the benefit, as sloppy joes, chips, bars and cookies will be on hand.

Bev also said there's an account for Alyxis at First National Bank in Red Wing. For those who want to make a cash donation, the address is A.L.F. (Alyxis Leukemia Fund), First National Bank of Red Wing, 2835 South Service Dr., Red Wing, Minn., 55066.

"I can't believe the support we've gotten," Bev said. "People that don't even know her are reaching out to this little girl. It's unbelievable."
