Bucks choose Drew as next head coach
MILWAUKEE - The search is over for the next head coach for the Milwaukee Bucks and Larry Drew is the man. Drew comes to the Bucks just four days after he was replaced as the Atlanta Hawks' head coach. He will replace interim coach Jim Boylan.
Drew has a winning record in Atlanta, receiving a lot of credit for getting better production than expected out of his players on the Hawks. He inherits a roster with a lot of potential, but several unknown factors right now. Reserves J.J. Redick and Mike Dunleavy are unrestricted free agents, while Brandon Jennings is a restricted free agent and his backcourt partner Monta Ellis has a little less than three weeks to exercise an $11 million player option on his contract. Ellis and Jennings combined for almost 37 points per game last season.
The Bucks also have young talent available like Larry Sanders, Ersan Ilyasova and John Henson, plus what should be a contributor with the 15th pick in this month's NBA draft.
