Business issues are topics as governor, cabinet visit Osceola
Changes in Wisconsin’s tax structure, regulatory reforms and workforce development initiatives were discussed as Gov. Scott Walker and several cabinet secretaries travelled to the Osceola Airport today (Oct. 14).
The visit, held in the Custom Fire Apparatus hanger, was part of the governor’s Cabinet on the Road series.
Also attending were Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch, Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation CEO Reed Hall, Secretary Rick Chandler from the Department of Revenue, Secretary Reggie Newson of the Department of Workforce Development and Department of Natural Resources Secretary Cathy Stepp.
S. Mark Tyler, founder and president of OEM Fabricators of Woodville and a member of the Wisconsin Technical College System Board, presented information on his perspectives as a growing manufacturer seeking skilled workers.
The event was planned by the Greater St. Croix Valley Partnership, a collaboration of county EDCs from Polk, St. Croix, Pierce and Dunn counties. About 175 business people attended.
Following the presentations, Walker fielded questions from the audience before leaving for another appointment across the state.
