Businesses showcased at Ellsworth Chamber meeting
Ellsworth Wisconsin 126 S. Chestnut St. 54011

This month’s Ellsworth Chamber of Commerce meeting Thursday was largely devoted to showcasing businesses.

Chamber Executive Director Sarah Ries introduced the new manager of the Shopko Hometown Store, who said store officials hope to open in the facility also presently housing Shopko Pharmacy on the village’s northwest side Monday, Nov. 4. A grand opening is tentatively set for Friday, Nov. 15.

The manager said officials are currently looking to staff the store.

Gordon Borner was introduced and he announced the opening of his real estate office in the former chamber office in the village’s west business district. Borner said he’s been in the real estate business for nine years, previously with Century 21. The way the computer internet has developed, he figured he didn’t need that affiliation anymore, he added.

Among others to be showcased was Deb Lucero of Express Employment Professionals in River Falls. Lucero said the business is seeking people for various employment opportunities. Anyone who needs a job or has a position available is encouraged to contact her at the firm.

She also promoted a free webinar on health care reform, scheduled for this Wednesday.

Ruth Lawrence of It Works Global discussed skin care options. Ries told about Yonder Way Boutique/Scentsy, which she operates from her home and for which she tentatively plans open houses in October and December.

Displays were set up around the meeting room at Crossroad Community Church to further tout some of these enterprises.

The director previewed the Harvest Moon Celebration, to be held in East End Park on Tuesday, Sept. 10, and reminded about the continuing weekly Farmers Markets there. The beautification efforts around town have been successful, though flowers in the hanging baskets “took a hit” from last week’s heat; Ries has received help with watering from Pete Huppert and Donna Swenson.

Upcoming events to be reported are the Ellsworth Ambulance Service pig roast on Saturday, Sept. 14, and the River Falls Area Hospital Foundation’s Fall Fling on Friday, Sept. 20.
