SPRING VALLEY - The Spring Valley-Pepin match-up was the only WIAA regional semifinal to take place in Pierce County Tuesday as they rest were postponed to Wednesday evening due to wet field conditions from Tuesday's heavy rains. The Cardinals beat the Lakers for the third straight time this season 5-3.


SV took a 5-0 lead and held on to it despite Pepin scoring three runs in the seventh, all on walks. Dustin Bune was the winning pitcher and Russell Hague got the save.

The Cards' top hitters included Bune, 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a triple, Braden Johnson, 2-for-3 with a double, Andy Bune and Derek Biggs, both with RBI singles and Hague hit a double and scored a run.

Today's regional semifinal match-ups, all beginning at 5 p.m. pit Ellsworth vs. Prescott in baseball in Hager City; Plum City at Elmwood in baseball; Durand at Ellsworth in softball; Spring Valley-Plum City at Prescott in softball and Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran at Elmwood in softball.
