Cassel, Walsh lead Vikings to overtime win over Bears
MINNEAPOLIS = Minnesota kicker Blair Walsh nailed a game-winning 34-yard field goal with 1:47 left in overtime to lift the Vikings to a 23-20 win over the Bears at the Metrodome.
Walsh, who missed a 57-yarder earlier in OT, also made a game-tying 30-yard field goal with 24 seconds left in regulation to force the extra session. Adrian Peterson ran for a season-high 211 yards, while Matt Cassel finished 20-of-33 for 243 yards with a touchdown and an interception for the Vikings, who improved to 3-8-1. Cassell replaced the injured Christian Ponder.
Chicago quarterback Josh McCown was 23-of-36 for 355 yards and two touchdowns to Alshon Jeffery, who ended with 12 catches for a career-high 249 yards. Matt Forte had 23 carries for 120 yards in the setback. Chicago fell to 6-and-6. Robbie Gould missed a potential game-winning field goal attempt in overtime.
Minnesota visits Baltimore this Sunday.

Cold Spring native Eric Decker hauled in four touchdown receptions from star quarterback Peyton Manning and the Broncos beat the Chiefs 35-28 in Kansas City yesterday. Decker had eight receptions for 174 yards in all and helped Denver improve to 10-and-2 on the season. The former University of Minnesota star says the win came in a tough stadium to play in. Manning finished with 403 passing yards.
The Seattle Seahawks can gain a leg up on potential home-field advantage in the NFC playoffs with a win over the New Orleans Saints tonight at home in Monday Night Football. Seattle is 10-1 on the season and has a 13-game home winning streak. But the Seahawks are missing two key pass defenders against Saints quarterback Drew Brees. New Orleans is 9-2 with both losses on the road this season. Kickoff is set for 7:40 p.m.
