Chlorination notice rescinded for Ellsworth
The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) announced Thursday the emergency chlorination notice for the Village of Ellsworth has been rescinded.
Public Works Director Greg Engeset said five samples collected on both September 23 and September 24 tested positive, lifting the notice. However, to be proactive, the Village will still chlorinate the water supply thorugh Sunday, Sept. 30.
The chlorination began on September 17 after a sample of coliform bacteria was indicated on September 12. Further sampling on September 16 confirmed it.
In a letter to Village officials, the DNR states the Village will still need to collect five more samples during October to verifty the water is bacteria-free.
