Cobb out until December 15 at the earliest
Ellsworth Wisconsin 126 S. Chestnut St. 54011

GREEN BAY -- Randall Cobb will not return to the Green Bay Packers' lineup until December 15th at the earliest. The Packers' receiver and kick returner was placed on the injured reserve list yesterday with the team's only allowable "designated to return" status for the year. That makes him eligible to start practicing again in six weeks, and play two weeks after that. Cobb suffered a broken fibula in his right knee last Sunday at Baltimore. He leads the Packers in catches with 29 this season for 378 yards and two touchdowns. Also, backup offensive lineman Greg Van Roten was put on injured reserve yesterday. He's out for the year with a broken foot. General manager Ted Thompson refused to bring in an experienced free agent to replace Cobb. Instead, he promoted receiver Myles White and tight end Jake Stoneburner -- both undrafted rookies -- from the team's practice squad. The Packers tried getting Denver practice squad receiver Tavarres King, but the Broncos kept him by promoting him to their regular roster. Green Bay will start practicing today for its Sunday home matchup against Cleveland. At the moment, the Packers only have three healthy wide receivers -- Jordy Nelson, Jarrett Boykin, and White. James Jones has not been ruled out yet, with a sprained P-C-L knee ligament suffered last Sunday. The team has said there's a slight chance that Jones will play against the Browns.
