Collector's letting historical fashions out for style show

EL PASO--Women didn't have the vote, were stuffed so tightly into their clothes they could hardly breathe and caused a sensation if they were caught smoking.

Lorraine Eichman of Prescott regularly portrays those times in the style shows she arranges for area fundraisers and other events. Eichman will recreate that past, inject some humor and offer men's fashions, too, when she presents "We've Come a Long Way, Baby" this Friday in the upstairs of the El Paso Bar and Grill during the El Paso Days sesquicentennial celebration. The doors open at 5 p.m. and the show starts at 6 p.m.

She credited a vintage TV commercial for the show's theme.

"That was the slogan for Virginia Slim cigarettes," she said, believing it's safe to use it because the cigarette company has since gone out of business.
