Conference cross country meets today

Both the Middle Border and Dunn-St. Croix conferences hold their respective cross country meets this afternoon.

The Middle Border meet will be in Amery at Amery High School and begin at 4:15 p.m. The Ellsworth High School boys team will be competing for their third straight title and will face a strong challenge from New Richmond. At least four schools have good shot at winning the girls' title including Prescott, led by defending MBC champion Victoria Simones, who won the Amery Invitational title a week ago and will be running the same course today. Also back to defend his conference crown is Prescott runner Cole Hauenstein.

The Dunn-St. Croix Conference meet will be in Mondovi at Valley Golf Course. The varsity boys will go first at 4:30 p.m and top-ranked Colfax the favorite to win the title with Mondovi runner Sasha Maro favored to defend his individual title. Spring Valley's girls, ranked No. 8 in the state in Division 3, will go its first D-SC title and will take on defending champ and No. 12 ranked Colfax to get it with the race beginning at 5 p.m. SV's Breanna Colbenson will race for her third-straight D-SC title.
