County athletes competing at state track meet this weekend
LA CROSSE - A host of Pierce County high school track and field athletes will be competing at the 119th WIAA State Track and Field Meet this weekend at Veterans Memorial Stadium. Division 2 and 3 competition begins this afternoon run until end of the day on Saturday.
Spring Valley's Zac Webster will try to defend his Division 3 triple jump title along with adding gold medals in the long jump and high jump. He'll also be a part of the Cardinals' 1600-meter relay team along with Tyler O'Keefe, Devon Larson and Jacob Reilly. O'Keefe will also compete in the 400-meter dash and teammate Aidan Manley will run in the 3200.
Other Pierce County boys' competing this weekend are Ellsworth's Brett Freier in both the 110-high and 300-meter IM hurdles and Elmwood/Plum City's Andrew Gilles in the 800-meter run. EPC's 1600-meter relay team of Peter Fenter, Tristan Bagley, Hogan Kernstock and Levi Wolf will also be in action.
In ths D-2 girls meet, Pierce County will be represented by two relay teams, Ellsworth's 800 squad of Olivia Helmer, Joanne Lanegran, Lily Huber and Hayley Larson and Prescott's 3200-meter team of Amanda Murphy, Annika Carlson, Alysse Lewis and Savana Stuhl. In Division 3, EPC's Sarah Gilles will be competing in both hurdle races along with the triple jump. She'll also be a part of EPC's 1600-meter relay team along with Josie Tiffany, Libby Feuker and Kaitlyn Lee. EPC's 3200-meter relay team will also be in action and team members are Tiffany, Lee, Feuker and Kylee Sabelko.
