The resolution called for the board to pursue a stand-alone sheriff’s department and 50-bed jail with room for future jail expansion, and to remodel the existing Courthouse Annex jail space into a justice center. It also allows for consideration of the courthouse at the jail/sheriff’s department site.

Supervisors LeRoy Peterson and Ken Snow were the only ones to vote no. Supervisors Greg Place and Jon Aubart were absent from Tuesday’s meeting.

No other action was taken on the jail site search.

In other action, the board:

--Officially approved the salaries for sheriff and clerk of courts for the next four years. A 1.25 percent raise was granted, meaning the sheriff will earn $76,216, $77,169, $78,133 and $79,110 for the next four years. The clerk of courts will start at $58,270 next year and rise to $59,605 in 2018. Both incumbents, Nancy Hove and Peg Feuerhelm, respectively, are up for re-election this November.

--Set the board meeting dates for the next 12 months, starting in May. All meetings except the November, December and April ones are on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. The November meeting will be at 9 a.m. on a Wednesday because Veterans Day falls on a Tuesday. The December meeting will be on Dec. 16 and the April meeting is at 9 a.m.

--Approved authorizing county e-mail addresses for board supervisors who want them. An e-mail address currently costs $83 per account annually and includes seven years of archiving. Costs are being paid through the Information Services Department budget. Mel Pittman abstained, as this was his final meeting as a supervisor.
