County hires new maintenance supervisor
The man who has been the Osseo-Fairchild School District's director of buildings and grounds since 2001 has been hired as Pierce County's maintenance supervisor.
Scott A. Walker will succeed Al Huppert, who retired in January after 18 years as maintenance supervisor.
Walker will begin work next Monday. His salary will be $50,565.
According to his resume, Walker was responsible for overall maintenance of two school district facilities and has over 24 years experience working with boilers. His duties included observing boilers and auxiliary units to detect malfunctions, overhauling and performing repairs on coolers and chillers, and rewiring electric fans and motors.
Prior to working for the school district, Walker was a maintenance mechanic for Luther Midelfort Hospital in Eau Claire, and before that a stationary engineer for St. Peter Regional Treatment Center, St. Peter, Minn.
He retired in March 2009 as a petty officer first class in the U.S. Navy.
County Board Chairman Paul Barkla said there were 125 applicants for the maintenance supervisor job.
