County volleyball teams start seasons with quad meets

Elmwood and Prescott's high school volleyball teams both began their 2013 regular season with quadrangular meets Thursday afternoon and evening.

Elmwood host its own quad meet. The Raiders compiled a 3-6 record as each team played three games. Gilmanton won the meet with a 7-2 mark. Both Clear Lake and Pepin were 4-5. 

Prescott was at Hudson playing in the St. Croix Central Quad.  SCC's gym was closed for repairs after a leak from a rainstorm in mid-June damaged the gym floor.

The Cardinals went 2-1 in the quad meet. PHS beat Greenwood and Central but lost to Hudson.

Plum City had a second straight match canceled due to heat. The Blue Devils non-conference contest at Alma was moved from Thursday to Oct. 17.

Ellsworth begins its season today playing in the SPRAWL Invitational, the state's largest volleyball meet. The meet will take place today and Saturday at UW-Stout's Johnson Fieldhouse in Menomonie.
