Courthouse elevator to be repaired for six weeks
This summer will be a busy one at the Pierce County Courthouse.
Multiple repairs will be ongoing at the time, among them to the elevator.
Renovations are scheduled to begin around late June, said Brad Lawrence, county corporation counsel, and are expected to last around five to seven weeks. Repairs include replacing the hydraulics and controls, rebuilding the elevator cab and realigning the guides and rails.
To compensate for those who would use the elevator, courthouse workers have announced the following procedures will take place.
Those with special needs will be redirected to the Oak Street entrance (across from the Holiday Station Store). Upon entering, they will be asked to go toward the Courthouse Annex break room, where a wheelchair and telephone will be there.
