Courthouse Front Lawn renovation project begins
Pierce County Administrative Coordinator JoAnn Miller announced Monday the Courthouse Front Lawn renovation project began today and will last between six to eight weeks.
Miller said in a news release, due to the demolition and replacement of all walkways in the front of the Courthouse, the Main Street entrance to the Courthouse will not be accessible once demolition begins. In addition, there will be no parking on the street in the front of the Courthouse and the sidewalk will be closed to pedestrian traffic.
Public access to the elevator on the north side of the courthouse will remain open. For the duration, there will be public access into the Courthouse from the annex on the main (first) floor by the Administration office. There will be no public access to the lower level of the Courthouse from the annex into the Courthouse by the District Attorney's office. Once the project is completed, Miller notes, and the main door reopened, public access from the annex into the Courthouse will be no longer.
Signs will be posted to help direct the public to access points.
