March 13, 1927, my baptism birthday; the day I was adopted into the family of God. At the time, I was completely ignorant of its meaning--actually ignorant of the meaning of anything.

There I was, teeny, tiny little thing (hard to imagine that!), carried to the font by my God mother, Great aunt, Cornelia Thompson, there to have the three handfuls of water poured over my head, and the words spoken that tied me forever to the Lord and to all the brothers and sisters in His family. (Unless I am stupid enough to turn away from Him).

In one of his writings, Martin Luther suggested that, each morning when we wash our faces, we should be reminded of our baptism, and breathe a prayer of thanks to Jesus, who made it all possible.

I like to send short "soul food" messages to a few special young people. They do tolerate them, but maybe when they see them coming they say to themselves, "O Boy, here comes Grandma with her 'soul food'!" But they are kind enough not to say it aloud in front of me.

This morning, as I wrote a part of First Corinthians: 13..."Love is patient. Love is kind. It does not boast; it does not never fails."

I wish all of the politicians who are striving to become president would take that to heart and be a little kinder to each other. This "dog eat dog" circus is sad.

Don't you wonder what God thinks as He looks down on His "messed up" beautiful world?

3, 2, 1 Cake

Passing along a recipe from Ruthie that sounds interesting. I haven't tried it, but maybe I will soon.

1 box angel food cake mix

1 box cake mix (whatever you choose)

2 Tablespoons water

In a gallon zip lock bag, combine the two cake mixes thoroughly. You can use lemon, chocolate, carrot, red velvet, pineapple or any other kind. One mix has to be angel food because it contains egg white. (If you are allergic to egg white, don't do it.)

For one serving:

Take out 3 Tablespoons mix and mix with 2 Tablespoons water in a small microwave safe container. It doesn't say whether to grease the container or not? Microwave on high for 1 minute. And you will have your own individual little cake. Can be served with a dollop of fat free whipped topping and/or fresh fruit.

The remaining mix can be stored on the shelf, no need to refrigerate.

It is called 3,2,1 cake because you need: 3 T. mix, 2 T. water, 1 min. microwave.

Thanks, Ruthie. I think I will try it when I get the right ingredients.

Anyone out there trying it, let me know how it turns out for you.
