Discrimination lawsuit filed against Eau Claire Regis
EAU CLAIRE - A man has filed a discrimination complaint, after he had a job offer rescinded as the new president of the Eau Claire Regis Catholic school system.
Tim Nelson says he believes the job offer was pulled because of suspicions that he was gay. Regis announced in early April that Nelson would become the new president. Less than a month later, officials said they're hiring Mark Gobler of Luck instead.
Nelson tells the Eau Claire Leader-Telegram that the school system called him two weeks after he was named to his new post. They reportedly questioned him about an obituary for his father, in which Nelson's name was listed with that of another man, in an apparent indication that they were a couple. Nelson said the man is his best friend. Eau Claire Regis denies that it withdrew the job offer because of Nelson's gender or sexual preference.
