DNR stocking state streams with 330,000 trout
Wisconsin's inland waterways will open their sport fishing season in 19 days. And by then, the DNR hopes to add 330,000 new trout.
Fishery workers and volunteers have been stocking rainbow, brook, and brown trout in areas where the habitat is slim - and there is not a natural reproduction network. The new trout were raised at hatcheries in Saint Croix Falls, Osceola, and Nevin.
The sport fishing season begins May 4th. If you're still undecided on a trout stream, there are maps available on the DNR's Web site, accessible at Wisconsin.gov.
