Donald Carl Rieck, 83

Donald Carl Rieck of Ellsworth was born on May 16, 1926, in Red Wing, Minn., to Bernhard and Elsa (Hauschildt) Rieck.  Don was called home to eternal rest on Saturday, July 25, 2009, at the age of 83.

He was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church, Frontenac, Minn.  He married Connie Swanson on April 8, 1950, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Red Wing, Minn.  In 1952, they purchased the Henry Swanson farm (Trenton Twp.) and, in 1991, they moved to their home on Humble Ave. in Ellsworth, Wis.

He loved the farm life, going to auctions, trips to Branson, Mo., and especially his John Deere tractors.  His family was always in his life.  He loved his grandchildren and especially the 4 great grandchildren.

He was a member of Svea Lutheran Church in Hager City, Wis.  Don served on the church board and helped wherever he could.

Don is preceded in death by daughter, Julie Ann; his parents; sister, Margaret Fitschen; and two brothers, Arnold and Eldon Rieck.

Survived by his loving wife Connie (nee Swanson); son, Dennis (Tammy) Rieck; daughter, Cheryl (Bradley) Langer, all of Ellsworth; six granddaughters, Stacey (Andy) Galle of Red Wing, Minn., Julie (Brandon) Langer of Hastings, Minn., Kimberly (Dan) Langer of Rosemount, Minn., Kristen (Jake) Langer of Beldenville, Wis., Jenna (Brandon) Rieck and Danielle (Andy) Rieck, all of Ellsworth, Wis.; four great grandchildren: Isaac Galle, Mason Boeff, Morgan and Ava Kolodzienski; sister-in-law, Irene Rieck of Bay City, Wis.; nieces, nephews and his special friend "Spider".

Funeral service 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at Svea Lutheran Church in Hager City, Wis.  Visitation 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Hill Funeral Home in Ellsworth and also from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church on Wednesday.  Interment at Svea Lutheran Cemetery in Hager City, Wis.
