Dorothy Hamilton, 88
Dorothy Elaine Hamilton, 88, of Ellsworth died Friday, June 28, at the Ellsworth Care Center.
She was born on Nov. 17, 1924, in Ellsworth Township, Wis., to Walter and Caroline (Schmidt) Gotzman. Growing up she attended Clayfield and Ellsworth High School, graduating in 1942. On Feb. 7, 1947, she was united in marriage to Howard Hamilton at St. Paul's Evangelical and Reformed Church. Dorothy and Howard were both longtime employees of the Ellsworth Cooperative Creamery.
She was an active member of the St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Ellsworth, serving as a Sunday school teacher, piano player, and a member of the Women's Guild.
She is survived by a son, Steven C. (Linda) Hamilton of Ellsworth, and a daughter, Julie S. (Larry) Bauer of Hudson; five grandchildren, Shannon (Gregg) Ichel, Michael (Angela) Bauer, Laura (Chad) Peterson, John Hamilton, and Gretchen (Timothy) Stanford; eight great-grandchildren, Lauren and Amanda Ichel, Isabelle and Spencer Peterson, Joshua and Alexander Stanford, and Luke and Owen Bauer; a sister, Carol (Bill) Southard, and a brother, Roy (Darlene) Gotzman.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Howard; two brothers, Lowell and Robert, and a sister, Linda.
Funeral services at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 2, at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Ellsworth, with Pastor Susan Schneider-Adams officiating. Visitation is 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Burial is at the St. Paul's United Church of Christ Cemetery in Ellsworth.
