Edith Anna Jenson slept away peacefully June 13, 2009, at the Spring Valley Care Center, her residency for the past two years.
Edith was born Feb. 8, 1918, the second daughter of Freeman and Bernice (nee Hatch) Lamb, in Glendive Montana. When nine, her family relocated to Cady Township, WI, where she grew up and graduated from Spring Valley High School. On May 15, 1937, Edith married Jasper Jenson, her husband until his death in 2000. They were blessed with two children, Delores and Gerald.
They lived and farmed for 57 years on the Jenson home place in Martell Township, before retiring to Spring Valley. While on the farm, they were active in their community and church. Edith was a faithful and committed member of Rush River Lutheran.
Jasper and Edith had a good marriage and were loving, caring parents and grandparents. They enjoyed traveling and free time with both family and friends. To the pleasure of her family, Edith made the best pot roast and rommegrot in Martell Township.
Preceding her in death were Jasper, her parents, both of her sisters, Berneda Donely and Marian Carpenter, and all of Jasper's siblings.
She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law Merton and Louise Lamb of Menomonie; daughter Delores Johnson (Gary) of Danbury, WI; son Gerald Jenson (Sheri) of O'Fallon, IL; Grandchildren Nancy Erickson (Chris) of Vadnais Heights, MN, Laura Dirks (Kent) of Plymouth, MN, Joel Gilbertson-White (Stephanie) of Oakland, CA, Matthew Jenson (Beth) of Woodinville, WA, Christopher Jenson (Robin) of Kansas City, KS and Reagan Johnson-Wilke (Derek) of State College, PA. Edith also left seven great grandchildren and several relatives from both the Lamb and Jenson families, and numerous friends.
Funeral services were on June 17, 2009, at Rush River Lutheran, with Pastor Gerd Bents officiating. Burial was in the Rush River Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Joel Gilbertson-White, Chris and Jens Erickson, Kent and Tyler Dirks and Chuck Lamb. Honorary Pallbearers were Matt and Chris Jenson, Ellie Erickson, Kelsey Dirks, and Arnie and Jim Knutson, Annette Kelly and Ione Hayes.
