Edwards has pole, Kenseth in sixth spot at Talladega
TALLADEGA, Ala. - Carl Edwards starts on the pole for today's Aaron's 499 at Talladega. The threat of rain canceled qualifying yesterday, so the starting positions were determined by a combination of practice speeds, owner points and qualifying attempts.
Matt Kenseth has the best starting position for a Wisconsin driver. He will take off sixth.
Eau Claire's Paul Menard starts 16th, while Beloit's Danica Patrick begins in the 23rd position and Janesville's Travis Kvapil starts 32nd.
A wreck with her teammate on the 14th lap knocked Beloit-born Danica Patrick out of Saturday's Nationwide Series Aaron's 312 in Talladega, Alabama. Patrick wound up finishing 39th. Regan Smith picked up the win after a three-hour delay due to the wet weather. The 117 lap race by cut by 10 laps because darkness was approaching.
