EHS boys' hoops snaps losing streak to New Richmond
NEW RICHMOND - Ellsworth High School's boys basketball team snapped a 21-game losing streak to New Richmond and how on Friday.
The Panthers even their overall record at 2-2 and is 2-0 in the Middle Border Conference with 67-36 skinning of the Tigers.
Ellsworth shot 54 percent for the game, including 75 percent for two-point baskets. Ellsworth outscored New Richmond 40-17 in the second half.
EHS's Chrystian Kulow put down a game-high 26 points, including five three-pointers. Kyle Muprhy had a another huge game for the Panthers as he put in 23 points. He was 10-of-11 from the field. Nick Taranto finished with nine points.
Ellsworth crushed NR on the boards, outrebounding them 29-15. Murphy had a double-double with 14 rebounds. Emery Whalen led the Purple with seven assists.
Ellsworth is off until Friday when they host Amery in doubleheader with the EHS's girls team. They play the second game starting at 8:15 p.m.
