"Whereas, the residents of the Town of El Paso have invited others to come and enjoy festivities in honor of this momentous event; and
"Whereas the Town of El Paso is a valuable community within Pierce County and its citizens have contributed greatly throughout its existence and will continue to impact the area for the greater good.
"Now therefore be it resolved that the Pierce County Board of Supervisors does hereby congratulate the Town of El Paso on its sesquicentennial celebration and wish them well in the future and declare Sunday, April 5, 2009, as Town of El Paso Day in Pierce County."
The kickoff to El Paso's sesquicentennial celebration will be held this Sunday at 2 p.m. at the town's government center on Hwy. 72 at 450th Street. There will be a program and lunch will be served.
Area residents are being asked to contribute their memories for this year's celebration.
