Eleanor M. Britton, 87

Eleanor Mary Britton, age 87, of Menomonie, Wis., formerly of Elmwood, passed away Thursday, May 29, at Neighbors of Dunn County in Menomonie.

The former Eleanor Mary Bates was born on July 12, 1926 in Wheeler, Wis., to Ignatz and Rosa (Krammes) Bates.

Eleanor spent most of her life in the Elmwood area as a homemaker, also waitressing and operating Farm Hill Country Store and Tavern for about twelve years. She was active in the Sacred Heart Altar and Rosary Society and in the American Legion Auxiliary.

She enjoyed gardening, fishing, playing cards, cooking, quilting and especially spending time with family and friends.

Eleanor is survived by seven children, Rodney Pitzrick, Laura Estenson, Joseph (Vickie) Grant, Thomas (Melissa) Grant, Barbara (Randy) Reid, Mary Grant and Rosanna (Colin) Nevin; sixteen grandchildren, Rodney (LeNae) Pitzrick, Jr., Tammy Pitzrick, Charlie (Michelle) Pitzrick, Julie (Micah) Price, Lucas Grant, Sarah (Dustin) Veenendall, Tanya Grant, Harlan Grant, Curtis Grant, Kandi Grant, Tiffani Grant, Anna Grant, Levi Grant and Madelyn, and Savannah and Grace Nevin; and fourteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Fredrick Pitzrick; second husband, Webster Grant; and third husband, Lynn Britton; a son, Michael Grant; three infant grandchildren, Gina Marie Avery, Michael Grant, Jr., and Melinda Grant; son-in-law, Gary Avery; daughter-in-law, Jenny Pitzrick; three brothers; and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 3, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elmwood, with Father Kevin Louis officiating. There will be visitation from 4-7 p.m. Monday at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. There will also be visitation at the church one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Burial will be in Farm Hill Catholic Cemetery.
