Email News Alerts

A member of this year's Ellsworth High School graduating class, Nathan Brenner was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes five years ago.

After participating in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) Walk for a Cure the last couple of years, Brenner is now involved in a new local fundraiser. The insulin-dependent teen showed hope last week the foundation's research will pay off for him and the ever-increasing number of other diabetes patients.

"Nathan has set a goal of raising $10,000 for the foundation," his mother, Jeri Lu, said Wednesday.

The first-time fundraiser he and his family plus other area youths and adults are organizing is called "The Faces of Diabetes," scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 21, from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Vino in the Valley in Maiden Rock.
