Ellsworth to celebrate National Night Out August 7
All Village of Ellsworth residents are invited to attend Ellsworth's first National Night Out scheduled from 7-9 p.m. August 7 in the East Ellsworth Park.
National Night Out, which is celebrating 24 years of existence, is a crime prevention event designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; generate support for and participation in, local anticrime programs; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships along with letting criminals know that neighborhoods are organized and willing to fight.
The reason for establishing a National Night Out in Ellsworth was for safety reasons, explained Karen Meyer, Police Secretary.
During a recent survey, the Ellsworth Police Department found out there was a genuine concern residents had for their safety within in the Village and decided a National Night Out was one way in which Police can educate the community about crime in their area along with showing them by being partners with the police, crime rate along with their fear of being unsafe will decrease.
