Ellsworth High School's girls basketball team out scored Somerset by 10 in the second and 18 in the third to defeat Somerset 67-39 in a Middle Border Conference game Tuesday evening at Ellsworth.

The Panthers pulled down 23 offensive rebounds against the Spartans. Carlie Melstrom had eight rebounds, dished out nine assists and made four steals.

Kayla Christopherson and Taylor Murphy both scored 15 points and Kelly Kannel added 14 points to the Panthers' total.

With Durand's loss at Amery, the Panthers are still a game and a half back of the Panthers in the league standings. Ellsworth faces Amery at Friday at home.

Friday's game will feature a halftime ceremony honoring past players, coaches and managers of the EHS girls' basketball program.
