Ellsworth grapplers take down Somerset 53-15

Despite having enough wrestlers in the program to fill all the weight classes, Somerset High School only chose to wrestle eight, giving Ellsworth an easy 53-15 win in a Middle Border Conference dual meet Thursday.

The No. 1 ranked Panthers racked up 36 points in forfeits at 125, 130, 145, 152, 160 and 112 pounds.

Getting wins in the wrestled matches for the Panthers were D.J. Yarwood with 3:59 pin of Gabe Flandrick at 135, Cory Deiss with a 5-4 win over Haydon Dvorak at 189, Tyler Thoen with a 10-3 decision over Bobby LeRoy at 103 and Sam Huppert with a 19-3 technical fall over Shane Miller at 119.

Ellsworth improves to 5-1 overall in dual meets and 3-0 in the Middle Border Conference. The Panthers are off until the Bi-State Classic in La Crosse Dec. 28-29. Somerset drops to 5-3 overall, 2-1 in the MBC
