Ellsworth to host Polka Fest this weekend
Dancers will step lively to the beat of bands at the 39th annual Ellsworth Polka Fest this weekend.
The event at the Pierce County Fairgrounds along Hwy. 65 north (N. Maple Street) occurs this Friday through Sunday, with a special pre-weekend attraction Thursday. Two wooden dance floors, under a shelter and a tent on the grounds, will accommodate polka enthusiasts.
Music will be supplied by 10 bands. Many of the listeners follow the route of similar festivals in this region, with the local one believed to be among those existing the longest.
Approximately 2,000 people are expected to populate the festivities here, based on past attendance. Campers often arrive earlier in the week, securing spots for themselves. They pay $15 per night or $20 for the weekend to camp, and get access to restrooms and holding tanks for recreational vehicle dumping.
