Ellsworth library, senior center team to give patrons a new view

Patrons of the Ellsworth Public Library and the Ellsworth Senior Citizens Center now have another window on the world.

This window isn't one that can be opened or gets covered by drapes, but is electronic--a 53-inch flat screen TV. The wall-mounted device, which transforms the center's meeting room into a small theatre when in use, was installed right after the holidays.

"We've already shown a Christmas movie," Library Director Shelley Anderson said Thursday. For its part, the center had presented movies featuring Danny O'Donnell and Roy Rogers as of last week, Center Director Gloria Nelson added.

The two facilities in the same building along Main Street in the village's west business district are sharing the TV, Anderson said. The local library board agreed to provide funds for the approximately $5,000 project after she approached board members about the downstairs center arrangement, considering there's no space for such showings in the library upstairs.
