Ellsworth, Plum City athletes qualify for state track and field meet
Ellsworth and Plum City high schools will have several representatives at the upcoming WIAA State Track and Field Meet. They qualified in their respective sectional meets Thursday.
At the Division 2 meet in Colby, Ellsworth's Alex Campbell is the sectional champ in the triple jump, winning with a leap of 43 feet, three inches, his best mark of the season. He also placed fourth in the high jump wich also qualified him for state.
Ellsworth's Abbey Ristow and Lydia Kuhl will be joining Campbell. Ristow took third in the discus and Kuhl finished fourth in the 100-meter low hurdles.
Qualifying for Elmwood-Plum City at the WIAA Division 3 Colfax on the girls' side (by finishing in the top four) are Heather Von Holtum, Marah Boyer and Elaina Danzinger on Elmwood-Plum City's 800-meter relay team. The 1600-meter meter relay team had PC members Von Holtum, Danzinger and Morgan Sweeney. On the 3200-meter team were Boyer, Sarah Gilles and Ashley Longsdorf. Jordyn Mark qualified for state in the triple jump by finising third.
For boys, qualifying from Plum City were Alex Gilles in the 400 and 800-meter runs. Lance Von Holtum, Tyler Dink, Gabe Rodriguez and Alex Usher were on the 800-meter relay squad; Von Holtum, Tyler Churchill, Gilles and Chase Lanz were on the 1600-meter team while Von Holtum, Dink, Jonathan Wieser and Chuchill were on the 3200-meter team.
