Ellsworth, Prescott baseball teams both winners last evening

The second showdown between No. 2 Ellsworth and No. 7 Prescott on the baseball diamond isn't until next Thursday in Prescott. And both prep squads are making sure that contest will again be another important one in the Middle Border Conference.

EHS stayed undefated in MBC action with an 11-0 win at Osceola Tuesday while Prescott also won by shutout, 8-0 over Durand at home.

Ellsworth pitcher Brady Yanish struck out 11 batters in seven innings and held the Chieftains to just one hit. The Panthers had 11 hits with Isaac Hines, Dennis Schutz and Eric McGregor each having two. Nick Taranto led EHS with three RBIs.

The current standings in the Middle Border Conference are as follows:

Prescott is at Somerset this Thursday while Ellsworth hosts Amery in Hager City.  Prescott will play a rescheduled contest at  New Richmond on Friday.

Ellsworth's game at Somerset was rescheduled to May 27. The original game on that date, Ellsworth at St. Croix Falls, was cancelled.
