PRESCOTT - Ellsworth and Prescott split a Middle Border Conference doubleheader at Biggs Field Tuesday.

PHS won the first game 5-2 but EHS ran away with a 13-3 victory in Game 2.

Ellsworth managed just four hits in Game 1 as Marti Johnson picked up the complete game victory in the pitcher's circle. She struck out three. The Purple's Jenna George went 1-for-2 with an RBI in the loss.

The Panthers jumped ahead 4-1 in the bottom of the first inning in Game 2 and tallied 11 hits in the victory.

Ashley Matzek pitched a complete game for Ellsworth (8-4, 8-4 Middle Border), giving up eight hits and striking out one. She also went 2-for-3 with two RBI at the plate. George was 2-for-3 with a home run, a double and four RBI while Abby Giese finished 1-for-1 with two walks, a home run, three RBI and three runs scored for the Panthers.

Ellsworth, a No. 3 seed, will host sixth-seeded Somerset Thursday in the first round of the Division 2 regional playoffs. Prescott, will play ina Division 3 first round contest as the No. 5 seed at No. 4 Durand. The game will be in Arkansaw starting at 4:30 p.m.
