Ellsworth, Prescott take part in first outdoor meet of season at Ellsworth Invite
This year's Ellsworth Fuller Invitational prep track and field meet was important not just because it was held for the first time in a few years at the EHS track after it had been resurfaced, but also because it was the first outdoor meet of the season for both Ellsworth and Prescott.
The meet took place Friday at Fuller-Symes Field. Only the running events were held and seven teams took part. Amery edged Osceola to win the boys title 81-80 with Ellsworth third with 69 points and Prescott fourth with 65 points. Osceola dominated the girls meet with 130 points followed by Prescott with 81 and Baldwin-Woodville with 66 while Ellsworth had 45.
Ellsworth and Prescott dominated the relay in the boys meet with the Cardinals winning the 1600 in 3:39.75 and the 3200 in 8:29.31. Ellsworth finished second in the 400 relay and won the 800 in 1:36.92. EHS also got titles from Brett Freier in both hurdle races. He won the 110 highs in :16.41 and the 300 intermediates in :43.42. Prescott's Cole Hauenstein took first in the 800-meter run in 1:57.48.
Prescott's Victoria Simones was a double winner in the girls' meet as she won the 800-meter run in 2:29 and the 1600-meter run in 5:32.01.
